2015: The Year Of TONY JAA

If you have been living under a rock and still do not know who TONY JAA (Ong Bak) is, things are about to change. The Thai martial arts superstar is looking to have a major career year in 2015. He is set to finally make a name for himself outside of Thailand with a mixture of Hollywood and Hong Kong projects including:

– SKIN TRADE: Once again co-starring DOLPH LUNDGREN (The Expendables) along with MICHAEL JAI WHITE (Undisputed 2), RON PERLMAN (Hellboy), and CELINA JADE (Legendary Assassin). The plot revolves around a detective’s family being murdered by a Serbian gangster with international interests. NYC detective Nick (Lundgren) goes to S.E. Asia and teams up with a Thai detective (Jaa) to get revenge and destroy the syndicates human trafficking network.

– FAST & FURIOUS 7: The latest installment of the highly successful ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise, Jaa joins the star-studded cast of VIN DIESEL (Riddick), DWAYNE ‘THE ROCK’ JOHNSON (Hercules), JASON STATHAM (The Transporter), RONDA ROUSEY (The Expendables 3), KURT RUSSELL (Tango & Cash), and the late PAUL WALKER (Brick Mansions).

– SPL 2: A TIME FOR CONSEQUENCES: The highly anticipated prequel to the 2005 DONNIE YEN/SAMMO HUNG fan-favorite ‘Sha Po Lang’. JAA joins returning cast members WU JING (Legendary Assassin) and SIMON YAM (Ip Man) along with MAX ZHANG (The Grandmaster) and LOUIS KOO (Flashpoint).

– KICKBOXER: The remake to the JEAN-CLAUDE VAN DAMME classic from 1989, JAA is set to star in the mentor role who trains ‘Frank Dux’ to avenge his brother against villain ‘Tong Po’. This remake features stunt-man turned leading man ALAIN MOUSSI (X-Men: Days Of Future Past), UFC superstar GEORGE ST. PIERRE (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), and DAVE BATISTA (Guardians Of The Galaxy).

There you have it. TONY JAA is set to dominate the WORLDWIDE box office next year!

Which one of his upcoming films are you looking forward to most? I, personally, can not wait for SPL 2 to see an EPIC showdown between JAA and WU JING. This might just rival the alleyway fight from the original between Wu Jing and Donnie Yen. We will have to wait and see! We certainly will not have a shortage of JAA-action, that’s for sure!
