Best Action Choreography Nominees For The 34th Annual Hong Kong Film Awards

The nominees are out for the 34th ANNUAL HONG KONG FILM AWARDS and the catagory that we are most interested in is for ‘Best Action Choreography’.

The 5 nominees are:

1. DONNIE YEN, STEPHEN WAI, YUAN BIN, and YAN HUA for KUNG FU JUNGLE

2. YUEN WOO PING for ONCE UPON A TIME IN SHANGHAI

3. COREY YUEN for RISE OF THE LEGEND

4. GU XUANZHAO for THE FOUR 3(D)

5. STEPHEN WAI for THE WHITE-HAIRED WITCH OF LUNAR KINGDOM

In my opinion, I think Yen and the ‘Kung Fu Jungle’ team got this in the bag. ‘Jungle’ is hands down Yen’s BEST all out martial arts film since ‘Ip Man’ and ‘Flashpoint’. The movie paid a great homage to martial arts cinema and deserves to take home the trophy for its thrilling diverse action choreography ranging from weapons, group fights, to hand-to-hand combat. The finale fight between Yen and WANG BAOQIANG is an instant classic rivaling the epic showdown between Yen and superstar JET LI in ‘Once Upon A Time In China 2’.

This fight alone should be enough for Yen to take home his 4th award for ‘Best Fight Choreography’ (he previously won for ‘The Twins Effect’, ‘SPL’, and ‘Flashpoint’). The winner will be announced on April 19th!
