Striking Rescue: Nameless Brings Ashton Chen & Andy On Together For New Martial Arts Actioner

A new chapter in the Striking Rescue franchise is on the way, with Striking Rescue: Nameless bringing martial arts stars Ashton Chen (Wings of Dread) and Andy On (100 Yards) together for an all-new actioner. Director Siyu Cheng and action choreographer Guo Yulong are returning from the original film, but this follow-up will take a different approach, introducing an entirely new set of characters.

Released in 2024, Striking Rescue starred Tony Jaa in a brutal revenge-driven action thriller. Rather than continuing Jaa’s story, Striking Rescue: Nameless will follow the anthology-style approach seen in SPL II: A Time for Consequences, retaining the franchise’s action-oriented identity while exploring a new storyline.

Joining Chen and On are Liu Fengchao (The Scavenger), Clara Lee (Operation Hummingbird), Gong Ruolan (Hidden Blade), Liang Dongyu (The Scavenger), and Wei Ziqian (Female Special Police Officer). Plot details and a release date have yet to be announced.

Chen first became a familiar face to kung fu fans as a child star in the Shaolin Popey films before stepping away from acting to focus on his education. He later returned to the screen in more mature roles, appearing in Ip Man 2 and continuing to demonstrate his martial arts abilities in films such as Black Storm and The Drunken Prodigy.

On the other side of the action lineup, Andy On has built an impressive résumé across Hong Kong and Chinese action cinema. After making his debut as the title character in Black Mask 2: City of Masks, On appeared in Star Runner, Jackie Chan’s New Police Story, True Legend, The Viral Factor, Once Upon a Time in Shanghai, and 100 Yards.

With Cheng and Yulong back behind the scenes, Striking Rescue: Nameless has the potential to deliver another dose of hard-hitting martial arts action. The pairing of Chen and On should be particularly appealing to fans of contemporary Chinese action cinema.

Chinese web movies have increasingly become a destination for martial arts enthusiasts, with platforms such as iQIYI and Hi-YAH! offering a steady stream of action-driven productions. While many operate on smaller budgets than theatrical releases, films featuring performers such as Xie Miao, Ashton Chen, and Andy On continue to give genre fans plenty of reasons to pay attention.

More details on Striking Rescue: Nameless are expected as the project moves forward.
