Universal Pictures is moving full steam ahead on a new installment of the The Mummy franchise, with reunion territory taking center stage. Leading the package are franchise originals Brendan Fraser (The Whale) and Rachel Weisz (Black Widow), both set to return to their iconic roles in the series.
Heading into the director’s chair is horror-thriller outfit Radio Silence (directors Matt Bettinelli‑Olp in & Tyler Gillett), known for injecting new life into franchises (Scream) with a genre-savvy blend of scares and spectacle.
While full story details are still under wraps, the project is being positioned not simply as a reboot but as a meaningful return—rather than retconning the past, it appears to be embracing what made the original films beloved.
Stay tuned.
