Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige revealed breaking news during the Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic Con, announcing that work has started on a new Ghost Rider film as he welcomed star Ryan Gosling (Project Hail Mary) and director Shawn Levy (Deadpool & Wolverine) to the stage.
Hall H erupted in applause as the duo introduced the new film, which is set to release in theaters in 2028. Jonathan Tropper (Star Wars: Starfighter, Your Friends & Neighbors) is writing the script. Watch the full panel below.
Ghost Rider is one of Marvel’s most iconic supernatural antiheroes. Rather than being a single hero, Ghost Rider is a mantle carried by individuals bonded to a mystical Spirit of Vengeance, granting them immense supernatural powers to punish the guilty. The best-known Ghost Rider is Johnny Blaze. A motorcycle stunt performer, Johnny makes a deal with the devil to save his adoptive father, only to become cursed with the Spirit of Vengeance. He transforms into a flaming-skulled rider with superhuman strength, near-invulnerability, and the ability to wield hellfire.
The character was previously brought to the big screen by Nicolas Cage in Ghost Rider (2007) and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2011).
