The next chapter in James Gunn’s DC Universe is officially on the way. The follow-up to 2025’s blockbuster Superman, titled Man of Tomorrow, is slated for a July 9, 2027 theatrical release. Gunn confirmed the details on social media, unveiling a striking comic-style image by DC icon Jim Lee featuring Superman and a fully armored Lex Luthor.
While Man of Tomorrow is not being billed as a traditional sequel, Gunn has emphasized it’s part of the broader Superman Saga. He has wrapped the story treatment and is steering the project as writer-director, aiming to move into production soon.
David Corenswet will return as Superman, and Nicholas Hoult is confirmed to reprise his role as Lex Luthor—likely in his formidable Warsuit, as teased in Lee’s illustration.
This film is part of a fast-building rollout for the DC Universe, following Supergirl (set for June 26, 2026) and Clayface (slated for September 2026), both under Gunn’s broader creative vision.
