UPDATE: After much delay, Veronica Ngo’s Furie prequel Thanh Soi is finally set for release in Vietnam on December 23rd.
UPDATE: After a long and intense casting process, producer Veronica Ngo has finally found her Thanh Soi leading lady in newcomer Dong Anh Quynh.
Being that the film is a prequel that takes place in the 90s, the full cast was introduced in a 90s inspired video. Starring alongside Quynh is Rima Thanh Vy, Thuan Nguyen, Song Luan and Vietnamese pop star Toc Tien.
Ngo is set to take charge not only as producer but also as the director of the film. Fight choreographer Samuel Kefi Abrikh (Furie) will also be returning with Aaron Toronto (Tam Cam: The Untold Story) handling the script.

A spin-off prequel to Vietnam’s highest grossing film ever, Furie aka Hai Phuong, is coming in the form of Thanh Soi: Pain Changes People.
The film will focus on the backstory of Thanh Soi (originally played by Tran Thanh Hoa) and her rise to becoming the notorious crime boss villain seen in Furie. Thanh Hoa is not expected to return as Thanh Soi. As you can see from the teaser Poster above, the character is only featured from her back with a stand-in.
Furie‘s leading lady Veronica Ngo (aka Ngo Thanh Van) will serve as producer via her very own Studio68 production company. A director has not been announced and a search is underway for a fresh face to take the lead.
