Zack Snyder To Direct UFC Actioner Brawler

Zack Snyder (Rebel Moon, Zack Snyder’s Justice League) is stepping into the world of mixed martial arts.

The acclaimed Hollywood director has teamed up with the UFC to direct Brawler, a high-octane film promising intense, bone-crushing fight sequences unlike anything seen in Snyder’s superhero films. Brawler follows the journey of a young fighter from the tough streets of Los Angeles as he battles his way toward a UFC championship while confronting his personal demons in a story of redemption.

This project marks the UFC’s latest foray into cinematic storytelling, following its groundbreaking live event at the Sphere in Las Vegas in September 2024. The event, featuring a massive 160,000-square-foot curved LED screen, highlighted the organization’s commitment to immersive entertainment.

Snyder, alongside his producing partner and wife Deborah Snyder, and Wesley Coller, will produce Brawler under their Stone Quarry banner. Turki Alalshikh and UFC chief content officer Craig Borsari will serve as executive producers. In addition to directing, Snyder will co-write the film with executive producers Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad, both of whom previously collaborated with him on 300 and the Rebel Moon films.

“Behind every great fighter is the story of how they got there. UFC is the world leader in combat sports, and I’m honored to be partnering with them to tell this incredible story,” said Snyder.
