Director John Woo And Nicolas Cage Reunite For Mafia Thriller Gambino

Legendary action director John Woo (Silent Night) is teaming up once again with actor Nicolas Cage (The Surfer)—more than 30 years after their blockbuster hit Face/Off and 23 years after Windtalkers—for a gritty new Mafia-era drama titled Gambino. The project is headed to the American Film Market where sales agency WME Independent will launch international rights.

Cage is locked in to play real-life mob boss Carlo Gambino, placing him front-and-center in a story of power, betrayal and criminal legacy. Woo brings his signature style—sweeping visuals, operatic action, and moral stakes—to this mafia saga, signaling a full-on return to form.

While the full cast and production timeline haven’t been detailed yet, the reunion of Woo and Cage has instantly generated buzz among action-movie fans and industry watchers alike. With WME Independent launching the package at AFM, Gambino is positioned as a high-profile global action-drama.
