Andy Serkis (The Batman) is set to return to his most iconic role as Gollum.
In addition to starring in the film, Serkis will also be directing the new Lord of the Rings movie tentatively titled The Hunt for Gollum. Original franchise director Peter Jackson and his partners Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens are producing the movie.
“Yesssss, Precious. The time has come once more to venture into the unknown with my dear friends, the extraordinary and incomparable guardians of Middle Earth Peter, Fran and Philippa. With Mike and Pam, and the Warner Bros team on the quest as well, alongside WETA and our filmmaking family in New Zealand, it’s just all too delicious…,” said Serkis.
Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema will release The Hunt for Gollum in 2026. The film is the first of many new Lord of the Rings projects currently in the works.
