UPDATE: Destin Daniel Cretton has decided to step down as director of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Kang Dynasty. However, Cretton will now shift his focus on his other Marvel projects such as Shang-Chi 2 and the Wonder Man TV series.

Marvel Studios has chosen Shang Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings (2021) director Destin Daniel Cretton to helm Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, the first half of the two-part conclusion of Phase 6 of the MCU!

Revealed last Saturday during Hall H at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will see all the heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe go up against Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conquerer, the next big MCU villain. The story will serve as the conclusion of “The Multiverse Saga,” a project encompassing Phases 4, 5, and 6 of the MCU.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is set for release on May 2, 2025. Marvel Studios is also releasing the second half of the crossover event of the new saga, Avengers: Secret Wars, on November 7, 2025.
