After more than two decades, one of the most iconic martial arts franchises in cinema history is preparing for a triumphant return. Philip Rhee, the creator, star, and producer of the beloved Best of the Best series, has confirmed that a brand-new installment — Best of the Best 5: Honor the Brave — is officially in the works.

The original saga, which began with Best of the Best (1989) and continued through Best of the Best 4: Without Warning (1998), became a staple of action cinema, blending high-impact martial arts with powerful themes of honor, sacrifice, and brotherhood. The films, co-starring Eric Roberts, James Earl Jones, Chris Penn, and Simon Rhee, have earned a dedicated global fanbase that has been calling for a comeback for years.

The road to this revival began in 2015, when Rhee first teased a franchise reboot featuring fresh faces and never-before-seen elements. Since then, speculation has been rampant — and now, it appears the wait is finally over.

In a recent meeting that set social media ablaze, Philip Rhee and his brother, acclaimed stunt coordinator and actor Simon Rhee, reunited with original series star Eric Roberts (Best of the Best, Best of the Best 2).
