UPDATE: Looks like ‘The Rock’ will be stepping aside as the star to make way for JOHN CENA (Blockers) to take over in THE JANSON DIRECTIVE. Dwayne Johnson made the announcement via Instagram as he will now serve as the producer of the project.

Action franchise king DWAYNE ‘THE ROCK’ JOHNSON (G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Fast & Furious 6) is set to star in a new series from ROBERT LUDLUM, author of ‘The Bourne Identity’, called THE JANSON DIRECTIVE.

This new ‘Bourne’-esque franchise tells the story of “a former consular ops agent who, after leaving covert operations due to the high number of sanctioned serial killings, goes into business as private security consultant. Teamed with a sharpshooter, Janson only takes assignments that he believes will lead to helping those in need.”

With FAST & FURIOUS 7 coming out next year and a third installment of the G.I. JOE series in the works, Johnson ain’t slowing down when it comes to building his franchise resume. Oh yea, and don’t forget about HERCULES which is set for release this month as well.

Do you smell what ‘The Rock’ is cookin’? A pie with slices of cars, Joes, and secret agents with a God on top.
