Road House 2 is gaining momentum with a major development—Guy Ritchie is reportedly in talks to direct the sequel. The follow-up comes after the success of Amazon MGM’s 2024 reboot of the 1989 Patrick Swayze cult classic, which starred Jake Gyllenhaal as Dalton, a tough bouncer hired to bring order to a chaotic Florida bar. Despite mixed reviews from critics, the film became a massive hit on Prime Video, thanks in part to its star-studded cast including Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, and Conor McGregor.

According to Matthew Belloni’s newsletter on Puck, Ritchie is in discussions to take over directing duties from Doug Liman for the upcoming sequel. Ritchie previously collaborated with Gyllenhaal on The Covenant (2023), suggesting a strong creative pairing if the deal goes through. While the first film bypassed theaters for a streaming debut, Belloni hints that Road House 2 could potentially receive a theatrical release, though this has not yet been confirmed.

Stay tuned.
