Jason Statham (Mutiny) and David Ayer (The Beekeeper) are continuing their action-heavy partnership, teaming up once more for a new thriller titled John Doe. The project is based on a script by Zak Penn and is being backed by Miramax alongside Black Bear.

The film centers on a mysterious man who wakes up with no memory of who he is. With no past and no identity, the only thing he can hold onto is the image of a woman named Eliza. As fragments of his life begin to resurface, he realizes he was trained for a mission that’s still unfolding—and the very people who sent him are now hunting him down. Caught between finishing what he started and protecting the one connection that makes him feel human, he’s forced into a high-stakes fight for survival.

This marks the third collaboration between Statham and Ayer, following their work on The Beekeeper and A Working Man, both of which helped establish their gritty, no-nonsense action style.

Production is expected to begin later this year, with the film heading to the Cannes market where international sales will be launched. Statham is also producing through his Punch Palace banner, continuing his growing role behind the scenes as well as in front of the camera.

With its mix of memory-loss mystery and relentless action, John Doe is shaping up to be another hard-edged vehicle tailored perfectly to Statham’s strengths—while reinforcing his ongoing creative partnership with Ayer.
