Sony Pictures has released a brand-new trailer for Jumanji: Open World, bringing Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan back for what is billed as the final chapter of the modern Jumanji trilogy. This time, the adventure takes a dangerous turn as the video game escapes its digital confines and unleashes chaos into the real world.

Set to arrive during the holiday season, Jumanji: Open World flips the franchise’s familiar formula. After surviving the deadly jungles and unpredictable challenges of Jumanji in previous installments, the heroes now face a threat that extends far beyond the game itself.

The returning quartet reprises their roles as Dr. Smolder Bravestone (Johnson), Franklin “Mouse” Finbar (Hart), Professor Sheldon “Shelly” Oberon (Black), and Ruby Roundhouse (Gillan). With the game’s dangers spilling into reality, the group must navigate an adventure where the rules have changed and the stakes are higher than ever.

Jake Kasdan returns to direct, reuniting with screenwriters Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg, who helped shape the previous two films, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level.

The ensemble cast also includes Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Morgan Turner, Ser’Darius Blain, Nick Jonas, Danny DeVito, and Rhys Darby, bringing back familiar faces for the franchise’s next and reportedly final adventure.

With its blend of action, comedy, and video game-inspired mayhem, Jumanji: Open World looks to deliver another wild ride while bringing the modern trilogy to a close.

Jumanji: Open World is scheduled to hit UK and Ireland cinemas on December 23rd, with its U.S. theatrical release set on Christmas day.
