Australian martial arts star Bren Foster — fresh off the buzz surrounding his gritty 2024 martial arts film Life After Fighting — is gearing up for another lead role in an upcoming action thriller now titled Mexicali (originally called The Farmer).
Produced by Bleiberg Entertainment, Mexicali reunites Foster with acclaimed action filmmaker Jesse V. Johnson (Triple Threat), who penned the script. The story centers on Foster as a former fighter who, after leaving the ring, works on a Mexican farm and takes underground bouts to make ends meet — only to wind up in the crosshairs of a ruthless gang.
The film marks the feature directorial debut of stunt veteran Luke LaFontaine, known for his behind-the-scenes work on major films like Iron Man and the Oldboy remake.
Joining Foster in the cast are Tania Raymonde (Deep Blue Sea 3), Plutarco Haza (El Señor de los Cielos), and Kris Van Damme (Enemies Closer), who brings his own combat pedigree as the son of action icon Jean-Claude Van Damme.
Mexicali is ser for release on March 13th.
