UPDATE: FIRST photo of JON BERNTHAL in character as ‘The Punisher’ (pre-Skull shirt)!

After the failed negotiation to land action star JASON STATHAM for the role of ‘Bullseye’, MARVEL turned its attention to ‘the Punisher’ and have casted JON BERNTHAL (TV’s The Walking Dead, Fury) as the antihero for season 2 of DAREDEVIL!

Bernthal will be the fourth actor to portray ‘Frank Castle’ after Dolph Lundgren (1989’s The Punisher), Thomas Jane (2004’s The Punisher), and Ray Stevenson (2008’s Punisher: War Zone).

For those unfamiliar with the character, ‘The Punisher’ “is a vigilante who employs murder, kidnapping, extortion, coercion, threats of violence, and torture in his war on crime. Driven by the deaths of his wife and two children, who were killed by the mob during a shootout in New York City’s Central Park, the Punisher wages a one-man war on the mob and all criminals in general by using all manner of conventional war weaponry.”

And he will taking this particular set of skills to Hell’s Kitchen in next season’s ‘Daredevil’.
