Martial Arts star Iko Uwais (Stuber, The Raid) is set to join Eiza Gonzalez (Ambulance), Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) and filmmaker/rapper Flying Lotus in the upcoming sci-fi thriller Ash.
Flying Lotus will also be taking the helm as director on the project along with composing an original score for the film. From an original screenplay written by Jonni Remmler, the film follows a woman (González) who wakes up on a distant planet and finds the crew of her space station viciously killed. She must now decide if she can trust the man (Paul) sent to rescue her.
Nate Boloton of XYZ Films and Matthew Metcalfe of GFC Films are producing. Neill Blomkamp (District 9) and Echo Lake are onboard as exec producers.
Rounding out the cast are Beulah Koale (Shadow in the Cloud) and Kate Elliot (The Gulf).
Production on Ash has began this week in New Zealand.
