Warner Bros. has tapped a director for its long-awaited remake of The Bodyguard.
Sam Wrench, best known for directing Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (2023), is now attached to helm the reimagining of the iconic 1992 romantic thriller that starred Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner. Casting for the remake has yet to be announced.

It also earned two Academy Award nominations and featured Houston’s legendary cover of Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You,” which became a global hit and a career-defining song.
Directed by Mick Jackson from a script by Lawrence Kasdan, the original The Bodyguard also inspired a popular stage adaptation, which premiered in London’s West End in 2012.
Hong Kong action cinema also have their version of The Bodyguard in the form of Corey Yuen’s The Bodyguard from Beijing (1994) starring martial arts legend Jet Li.
