Amazon MGM Studios has landed The Pirate, a new action thriller from Ms. Marvel writer Will Dunn. The high-concept film is described as The Raid on a pirate ship, with Jason Momoa (Chief of War) in talks to star and produce, and action maestro David Leitch (The Fall Guy) potentially directing.
The project marks a reunion of sorts for Momoa and Leitch, who previously crossed paths in the Fast & Furious franchise. Leitch is also busy with Amazon’s How to Rob a Bank and Netflix’s Gears of War, while Momoa is set to play Lobo in DC’s Supergirl and recently scored a global hit with Minecraft: The Movie.
Production details are still under wraps, but with Momoa and Leitch aboard, The Pirate is already shaping up to be a high-seas spectacle.
