Director Ridley Scott (Napoleon) is back for Gladiator II with Paul Mescal (All of Us Strangers) taking on the lead role as Lucius, the nephew of the villainous Commodus and the son of Commodus’s sister, Lucilla (Connie Nielsen). Although he only met his uncle on a handful of occasions, Lucius quickly grew an admiration for Maximus as he became a hero in the eyes of the many spectators in the Coliseum. It was at this point that Lucius made the crucial choice that he no longer wanted to be next in line to the throne of Rome, but instead wanted to live and be a symbolically heroic gladiator like Maximus.

An official logo display for the sequel was revealed at this year’s CinemaCon.

The film also stars Denzel Washington (The Equalizer 3), Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us), Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things), and May Calamawy (Moon Knight). In addition, Connie Nielsen (Wonder Woman) and Derek Jacobi (Cinderella) are back to reprise their roles as Lucilla and Senator Gracchus.

Gladiator II is set for release on November 22nd.
