Jeremy Renner (Avengers: Endgame) is gearing up for another action-packed role, this time taking on London’s criminal underworld in 12 Bullets, a new action thriller from Thunder Road, the production company behind the blockbuster John Wick franchise, and Comcast-owned UK broadcaster Sky.
The film will follow Renner as a mysterious American caught in the middle of a violent conflict between rival criminal gangs operating throughout London’s supposedly gun-free streets. Armed with just one gun and twelve bullets, he must wage a one-man war against the city’s criminal forces, making every shot count.
Sean Ellis (Anthropoid) is set to direct the project from a screenplay by Tim Walker. Thunder Road’s Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee will produce, with the project jointly developed by Thunder Road and Sky.
The film also marks another collaboration between Renner and Thunder Road, who previously worked together on two acclaimed crime dramas, The Town and Wind River. Both films showcased Renner’s ability to deliver intense, grounded performances in crime-driven stories.
Legendary label 193, led by Patrick Wachsberger, is launching international sales on the project ahead of next week’s American Film Market in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, CAA Media Finance is handling North American rights. The film is expected to receive a Sky Original release in the UK and Ireland, although a release date has yet to be announced.
Wachsberger described the project as a high-concept action thriller with international appeal, highlighting its London setting and the intriguing premise of a protagonist forced to make every bullet count. He also noted the opportunity to reunite with Thunder Road on another genre-driven project.
Renner has built an impressive career across action and dramatic films, earning Academy Award nominations for his performances in The Hurt Locker and The Town. His other credits include The Bourne Legacy, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Arrival, and American Hustle.
Of course, audiences also know him as Clint Barton, better known as Hawkeye, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. More recently, Renner has headlined Taylor Sheridan’s crime drama Mayor of Kingstown, where he plays Mike McLusky, a power broker navigating the dangerous world of organized crime.
With the production team behind John Wick involved and Renner returning to a gritty, street-level action thriller, 12 Bullets has the potential to deliver a compelling new addition to the genre.
