UPDATE: The Princess is set to premiere globally July 1st, exclusively on Disney’s direct-to-consumer platforms: on Hulu in the U.S., Star+ in Latin America and Disney+ under the Star banner in all other territories.

The film stars Joey King as a beautiful, strong-willed princess who refuses to wed the cruel sociopath to whom she is betrothed, she is kidnapped and locked in a remote tower of her father’s castle. With her scorned, vindictive suitor intent on taking her father’s throne, the princess must protect her family and save the kingdom.

Starring alongside King are Dominic Cooper (Preacher), Olga Kurylenko (Black Widow) and Veronica Ngo (Furie).

Best known for the Vietnamese martial arts actioner Furie (2019) starring Veronica Ngo, director Le Van Kiet is set to make his mark in Hollywood with 20th Century Studios’ The Princess.

The film is written by Ben Lustig (The Thirst) & Jake Thornton (Final Fantasy) and produced by Neal H. Moritz (Fast and Furious franchise), Toby Jaffe (Total Recall) and Derek Kolstad (John Wick), with Joey King and Guy Riedel serving as executive producers.

Described as “John Wick meets Sleeping Beauty”, the action film stars Joey King (The Kissing Booth) in the title role. Not much else is known about the project at the moment besides that it will be released on Hulu sometime in 2022.
