Martial arts star Iko Uwais (Expend4bles), known for his roles in The Raid, The Expendables, and the Skyline franchises, is officially launching his production company, Uwais Pictures, with two new films set to debut at the European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin next month.

Uwais Pictures, an Indonesia-based action-focused studio, aims to expand into the global market by building on the success of critically acclaimed, modestly budgeted local-language hits such as The Raid, The Raid: Redemption, and The Night Comes for Us. Specializing in integrating fight choreography, action design, and stunt performance from the earliest stages of production, Uwais Pictures brings together a team of long-time collaborators. Uwais serves as Chairman, alongside Chief Executive Producers Ryan Santoso and Yentonius Jerriel Ho, with Adamy Nurdin as Chief Operating Officer.

The company’s first two completed projects, Timur and Ikatan Darah, will be screened at EFM in collaboration with Gersh.

Timur, inspired by the 1996 Mapenduma hostage crisis, marks Uwais’ directorial debut and tells the gripping story of an international hostage situation overseen by current Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. The film is also the first Indonesian co-produced action film, with Uwais in the lead role.

Ikatan Darah, a local-language action thriller, follows a former martial arts athlete who must confront a dangerous network of loan sharks to rescue her younger brother from the perils of online gambling debt that threatens their family’s safety.

“I am excited to unleash the next phase of Uwais Pictures with the release of Timur and Ikatan Darah. We are bringing a new style of action movies for audiences around the world,” said Uwais.
