UPDATE: Sylvester Stallone (Rambo: Last Blood) has confirmed that he will NOT be returning as Rocky Balboa in Creed 3 via a response to a fan on Instagram.
UPDATE: “Directing has always been an aspiration, but the timing had to be right. ‘Creed III’ is that moment — a time in my life where I’ve grown more sure of who I am, holding agency in my own story, maturing personally, growing professionally, and learning from the Greats like Ryan Coogler, most recently Denzel Washington, and other top tier directors I respect. All of which sets the table for this moment. This franchise and in particular the themes of ‘Creed III’ are deeply personal to me. I look forward to sharing the next chapter of Adonis Creed’s story with the awesome responsibility of being its director and namesake,” Michael B. Jordan told Variety.
UPDATE: In an interview with MTV News promoting her latest film, Sylvie’s Love, Tessa Thompson confirmed her involvement with Creed 3 and that Michael B. Jordan will indeed direct the film.
She was asked if Jordan will be directing, and the actress said, “He is directing the next Creed.” She would follow up by continuing to tease her co-star by saying, “it’s gonna be ammo, I think, for me when he is engaging with me as a director. I’m just going to tell him to dial down the sexiness.”

With 2018’s Creed 2 surpassing the original film with over $200 million at the box office, it is to no surprise that a third installment of the franchise is in the works. Star Michael B. Jordan is reportedly in early talks to return in the role of Adonis Creed in addition to taking the helm for Creed 3.
If the deal is finalize, the project will be Jordan’s directorial debut. Similar to the Rocky franchise, star Sylvester Stallone went on to direct its sequels including Rocky II, Rocky III, and Rocky IV.
There is no words yet on if Stallone or Tessa Thompson will return for Creed 3.
Stay tuned.
